Teaching Philosophy

Angela's teaching philosophy includes a strong belief in developing the complete musician, attained through imparting a solid understanding of vocal technique and the vocal mechanism, performance practice, and basic musicianship.
She believes in teaching not only the "how" of singing and music making, but also the "why", so that her students understand what to do, how to do it, and why it's done. She also feels it is important to establish the fundamentals of music in addition to proper vocal technique in order to become a complete musician and not just a "singer". For this reason, basic music reading, theory/sight singing, and piano skills are taught alongside vocal production concepts and repertory whenever necessary. Overall, she strives to work with her students as individuals and helps to attain each of their individual goals.

"Angela's teaching style and patience is what I found to be her greatest asset.  The basic breathing techniques that I have learned have improved my singing."
